Mandat International

Main projects

We are currently working on two long-term projects

  1. The opening of a new place to welcome, inform and provide work infrastructure to all the visiting delegates, at La Pastorale (close to the UN).
  2. The project of a new building close to the UN, to increase our accommodation capacity, with budget rooms for delegates, offices for organizations, and a shared infrastructure.

We are also developing short-term projects for which we need volunteers and interns. If you are interested in helping us, please put your name down as a volunteer or an intern.

Our main on-going projects:

International Legal Search Engine

We have developed a legal search engine on the web, which makes it possible, by selecting a country, date and theme, to access the international norms of the country in question for a given theme. It is designed to facilitate the work of professionals, and to enable people from any country to access and discover the norms that protect them. So far, we have developed the Human Rights and Humanitarian Law section (over 250 conventions), and are extending the search engine to other domains in international law (Environment, Health, Intellectual property,etc.). See: www.whatconvention.org

Indigenous Peoples’ Cultural Day

Mandat International organises the Indigenous Peoples' Cultural Day at the end of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Peoples in July.  This entails a major effort.

Internet and informatics developments

We regularly create new websites of information on the Internet. They are generally dynamic sites requiring competences in Html, Php, Mysql, etc. We also work on more sofisticated data-processing projects: teleconference, etc. All those who are interested in helping us are welcome.

Discovering International Geneva for secondary school pupils

The organisation of visits, dossiers on chosen themes, and the development of pedagogical tools, enabling secondary school pupils to discover the international organizations and the non-governmental organizations present in Geneva. See: Visits

Media team and participation at conferences

We offer our past-trainees the possibility of attending international conferences, and of writing informative articles that will subsequently be published on the Information Platform.

Other projects and activities

We are developing numerous other activities to which you may contribute. We also receive requests from organizations in developing countries, which are looking for people able to help them develop their projects. A list of field projects is available on the Information Platform
