The Rappard House

HouseThe Welcome Centre for Non-Governmental Organizations and Delegations is located 13 minutes by bus from the United Nations Organization (UN).

The Welcome Centre was formerly Professor William Rappard's mansion. It was entirely renovated with the help of about 50 young from different regions of Switzerland and countries from the world.

Professor William Rappard was a passionate defender of the international scene. He was very active in various fields : Professor of Economic History, First Secretary at the League of the Red Crescent Societies, Member of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Founder of the Graduate Institute of International Studies (GIIS), Rector of the University of Geneva, Director of the Mandate Department of the League of Nations, Vice-President of the International Committee for the Placing of Intellectual Refugees, Swiss Representative at the International Labour Organization (ILO), as well as at the United Nations Organization (UN) and at the United States Embassy, etc.

The house, now the Welcome Centre, is managed by Mandat International and operated with respect to the environment : waste and paper recycling, energy saving, cultivating endangered plant species, etc.
